The Marshall gymnastics team dropped its second meet of the season, falling 119.95-108.00 on the road against Worthington in Southwest Conference action on Thursday.
Tigers sophomore Nikki McNair took first place in the all-around with a score of 34.3. She took first place in the uneven bars (8.2), balance beam (8.55) and floor exercise (8.65), and took second in the vault (8.9).
According to head coach Amy Daniels, falls doomed the Tigers on Thursday against the Trojans.
"We had a lot of falls and it's always difficult to pick yourself up after a fall," Daniels said. "It's mentally challenging and it damanges your score. We have to work harder in practice."
Shelby Maes was second on the team with an all-around score of 27.05. Maes' best event on Thursday was the vault, where she scored a 7.8. Stephanie St. Aubin scored a 7.9 on the vault, finishing third on the team with an all-around score of 26.15.
In their next meet, the Tigers travel to Mankato East High School for an invitational in a make-up meet from last week. Daniels is hoping a more confident Marshall squad shows up on Saturday.
"They have one more meet under their belts now," Daniels said. "I hope we eliminate the falls and have a more confident meet."
