UNOFFICIAL MINUTES- SUBJECT TO CORRECTIONS
LYON COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
LYON COUNTY GOVERNMENT CENTER, MARSHALL, MN
November 30, 2010
6:00 p.m.- Meeting was called to order by Chairman Stensrud. Members present: Stensrud, Fenske, Ritter, Goodenow, Nelson, and County Administrator Stomberg, Attorney Maes, County Auditor/Treasurer Van Overbeke.
Stomberg - I will go through the budget summary and high light some of the changes that are coming. Reviewed budget summary. Ritter Where is the expenditure of $200,000 for the LEC? Mather You added utilities, insurance because it can get under the levy. Stomberg If we have $200,000 in income from another county we will have other expenses. Mather Like meal costs. Stomberg Utilities we were under budgeting previously. We allocated a portion of property and casualty to that building as well. Discussion. Stomberg That leaves us a gross tax levy of $13,202,000. The state of Minnesota has certified program aid in $976,000. They have also certified an adjustment in the wind tower tax. Last year was the first year we had received a certification. They made a large error and are correcting it in 2011. Goodenow Did we ever get a check? Stensrud No. Stomberg So the county is expecting to get $830,232 in aids from the state of Minnesota. It leaves a tax request of $12,374,130. In September the Board certified a levy of $12,164,341 the same as 2010. Which leaves this budget out of balance by $209,789. At the budget meeting prior to this the Board directed me to use the insurance dividends and rents we receive from various tenants to balance it. The budget will be presented at the County Board meeting on December 21 for the Board's approval. Stensrud asked for comments or questions, from the Public. One question on valuation was raised from the audience.
Ritter moved, seconded by Goodenow to adjourn. All voted in favor.
