Area boys basketball

Minneota 79, Lakeview 47

The Minneota boys basketball team turned a close game at the half into a blowout Thursday against Lakeview in Cottonwood. Up four at halftime, the Vikings went on to win 79-47.

Shane Hennen led the way for Minneota (11-5, 5-5 Camden Conference) with 26 points, nine assists and six steals. Zac Corbin added 24 points, eight rebounds, six steals and three blocks.

Cody Rykhus had nine points and seven rebounds for the Lakers (4-8, 2-5 Camden) in the losing effort.

Russell-Tyler-Ruthton held off a late rally by Dawson-Boyd to claim a 59-55 Camden Conference win Thursday in Tyler.

The Knights held a 33-22 lead at the half.

Taylor Newton paced RTR with 18 points, seven assists and five steals. Dylan Kor added 17 points and Darren Feste added eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

Nathaniel Huot scored 30 points for Dawson-Boyd, connecting on four three-pointers, but no other Blackjacks player scored more than seven.

Leading the way for the Lancers (4-6 Camden, 5-9 overall) was Nate Stafki, who hit four three-pointers for 18 points. Michael Slaba hit 11 free throws to finish with 16.

MACCRAY had five players score in double figures as the Wolverines took down Lincoln HI 73-35 Thursday in Ivanhoe.

Corey Abbas led the Wolverines with 12 points, while Seth Hinrichs and Jamie Boonstra each had 11.

Lincoln HI was led by Joey Bednarek, who had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Daniel Maras added nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the Falcons' win.

WWG got 21 points from Aaron Theisen in the losing effort.

Dawson-Boyd 50, RTR 37

Kendra Lindblad had a game-high 14 points, five assists and seven steals, propelling Dawson-Boyd to a 50-37 Camden Conference win over Russell-Tyler-Ruthton Thursday in Tyler.

Kelsey Jurgenson had nine points and Whitney Hermanson grabbed 10 boards for the Blackjacks, who have won five straight. Dawson-Boyd (5-6 Camden, 8-7 overall) travels to MACCRAY today.

The Knights (3-7, 3-11) were led by Wendy Andersen, who had 10 points, and Janae Minett, who finished with nine.

Leading the way for the Lancers (14-2 overall) was Riley Nordgaard, who had 22 points, 15 rebounds and five steals. Casie Baer added 14 points and five rebounds for Canby, which returns to Camden Conference play today at Lincoln HI.

TMB was led by Kate Johnston, who had 16 points and 10 rebounds.

TMB drops to 3-12 overall and 2-8 in the Camden Conference and will play at Luverne Saturday.

MACCRAY locked down defensively Thursday in Ivanhoe, claiming a dominant 65-15 win over Lincoln HI.

The Wolverines led 30-8 at halftime.

Teagan Molden led MACCRAY (10-4) with 19 points and four steals.

Emily Christensen hit three three-pointers and scored 10 points for the Rebels in the loss. Alicia Moen had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Lincoln HI drops to 1-11 overall and will host Canby today. MACCRAY will play host to Dawson-Boyd today.

Paige Pistulka had six points, 13 rebounds and six steals, while Baune added five assists in the Rabbits' victory.

Steph Larson had 19 points, nine steals and five assists to pace the Sting. Emily Baker added nine points and a game-high 17 rebounds.

YME moves to 11-3 with the victory and will host Minneota Saturday.

With his team falling behind 9-0 after three matches, Joe Ruppert won by pinfall at 125 pounds, igniting Tracy-Milroy-Balaton/Westbrook-Walnut Grove in a 54-15 victory against Worthington on Thursday.
