Veterans joint business proposal April 13 at Prairie's Edge
Yellow Medicine, Chippewa, Swift, Lac qui Parle, and Big Stone County Veterans Service Offices along with the Upper Sioux Community Tribal Veterans Service Office will be have a meeting at 6 p.m. April 13 at Prairie's Edge Casino Resort for veteran business owners and non-veteran business owners who are interested as well.
Specialists from the Small Business Administration and Southwest Initiative Foundation will be available to answer any questions that may arise during the meeting.
The aim of this program is to keep and support businesses that are already in the area and try to have enough contracts that new jobs will be created. The goal is to keep local money within the community instead of leaving the community.
The joint venture would allow more contractors from the area to team up when bidding on contracts. Guest speakers will discuss state and federal contracts, how to register to be a contractor, and what advantages veterans have as business owners. If there is enough interest, the project will continue. Non-veteran owned businesses are also encouraged to attend. Space is limited to 100 patrons and there is no cost for attending. Register by contacting your local County Veterans Service Office.
Further details about the venture are available by contacting the Yellow Medicine County Veterans Service Office at 320-564-3134.
