Marron admitted to SMSU
Amy Marron, the daughter of Paul and Barb Marron of Marshall, has been accepted for the fall 2011 semester at Southwest Minnesota State University.
Her planned major field of study is early childhood education.
Fischer earns All-American honors
Southwest Minnesota State University senior Veronica Fischer is one of just 10 forensics students in the nation to earn Pi Kappa Delta All-American honors.
Fischer, a speech communication and philosophy major from Redwood Falls was named to the Pi Kappa Delta All-American Forensics Team for 2011. Ten forensics students are named, every two years.
Pi Kappa Delta is a national honorary for intercollegiate speech and debate activities. Every two years, the organization solicits nominations from member schools for the All-American designation. Fischer was nominated by Director of Forensics Mark Fokken, who serves as the adviser to SMSU's chapter of Pi Kappa Delta.
Recipients are selected based on their scholarship, academic performance, community service and competitive success.
Fischer was presented her award at the Pi Kappa Delta Biennial Convention and Tournament in Portland, Ore., March 23-26.
