Paying the price at Marshall pumps

June 1, 2011
Marshall Independent

To the editor:

Until the local convenience stores drop their gas prices to be in line with others in the state, I suggest everyone waiting until they get out of town before filling up their gas tank. I was in Alexandria and Brainerd last week on business and the highest price gas I saw was 8 cents less than Marshall's gas prices. Most towns, including Montevideo, Long Prairie and Sauk Center, were at $3.69 while Marshall was at $3.82. Even tourism towns such as Brainerd were noticeably cheaper.

Greed is the only good reason I can see for this gouging. When the owner of one convenience store feels the need for greed, the rest follow.
