To the editor:
Boys' State will be coming to Marshall and SMSU for the fifth year. To date it has been a very good venture. The location seems to be ideal and the location of the different programs are closely together.
In other words, when they have to move to another section of the college it is not a long distance move. The counselors that I have talked to seem to like the location here a lot.
Once again Marshall will be well represented with a number of boys planning to attend.
I have heard in discussing it with the Legion Headquarters that the total number of boys this year, but state wide may be down a bit. Whenever I speak about the program I always say, any organization can become a part of sponsoring a boy or more if they would like.
Presently the local Post of the American Legion and the VFW have been doing the honors of sponsoring a number of boys.
The program begins June 12 and ends June 18. There is a Friday night program at the Schwan Communty Center for the Performing Arts at the High School.
Anyone that desires can attend and will see what can be done in one week with a very talented group of boys.
