Minnesota all-state Lutheran choir at First Lutheran June 26

The 2011 Minnesota All-State Lutheran choir, making its 42nd annual tour, will present a concert at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, June 26, at First Lutheran Church in Marshall.

About 40 Lutheran young people, chosen through auditions from all over the state of Minnesota, will perform a variety of music from the classics to gospel.

The concert is free and open to the public.

St. John Cantius Parish to celebrate Independence Day in Wilno

St. John Cantius Parish in Wilno, located four miles north of Ivanhoe, invites the public to its annual Independence Day celebration.

The festivities begin with a turkey dinner with trimmings from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. July 4, served in an air-conditioned dining hall.

Concessions and activities on the church grounds include music by the Shieks until the drawing at 4 p.m. A pedal tractor pull is at 3 p.m. for children ages 5-12. Professional magician Patrick Humphrey will provide strolling magic.
