REDWOOD COUNTY - A two-vehicle crash claimed the life of a Granite Falls teenager Wednesday night in Redwood County.
Kailey Olson, 18, of Granite Falls was killed when her 2003 Saturn Ion was broadsided by a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Briana Nething, 27, of Morgan, at 8:34 p.m. Wednesday, the Minnesota State Patrol said. Olson had failed to yield at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 19 and Redwood County Road 7, the State Patrol said.
Michaela Busenbark, 20, of Granite Falls, a passenger in the Saturn, was listed in critical condition at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, the State Patrol said.
Olson's airbag was deployed and she was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said.
Nething's airbag also deployed and she, too, was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol said. Nething was treated and released at the Redwood Falls Hospital, the State Patrol said. Nething's daughters were passengers in her vehicle. One, a 3-year-old, was treated and released, the other suffered no apparent injuries, the State Patrol said.
The Redwood County Sheriff's Office, North Ambulance and Belview Fire Department assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
