MARSHALL - Kasra James Zal, 25, of Minneota pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Sept. 13 to charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime and illegal use of license plates, court records said. Zal possessed marijuana with intent to sell in Lyon County on May 23, court records said. A sentencing hearing was set for Sept. 22. Additional charges of fifth degree controlled substance crime and no proof of vehicle insurance were dismissed.

MARSHALL - Alexander James Zender, 36, of Clements pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Sept. 13 to charges of driving after cancellation - inimical to public safety, court records said. Zender drove with a cancelled driver's license in Lyon County on May 31, court records said. Zender was sentenced to one year in jail with 355 days stayed, pay a $300 fine and two years probation with conditions including serve 10 days in jail with credit for time served and good behavior, and complete 150 hours of Sentenced to Service. Additional charges of seatbelt violation were dismissed.

MARSHALL - Syrrome James Phylip Moos, 25, of Marshall appeared in Lyon County District Court Sept. 13 on two counts of domestic assault charges. Moos assaulted a woman in Marshall on July 13 and has prior convictions for domestic assault and terroristic threats, a complaint alleges. The court found probable cause for the charges, and a hearing was set for Sept. 27.

MARSHALL - Eric Adam Mulligan, 23, of Minneota appeared in Lyon County District Court Sept. 13 on two counts of domestic assault charges, two counts of fourth degree driving while impaired charges and open bottle charges. Mulligan assaulted a woman in Lynd and drove with an alcohol level of .16 on April 9, a complaint alleges. The court found probable cause for the charges, and a hearing was set for Oct. 11.

MARSHALL - Alexander Candelaria Kuilan, 38, of Marshall pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Sept. 13 to charges of domestic assault, court records said. Kuilan assaulted a woman in Marshall on July 30 and has a prior conviction for fifth degree assault in 2009, court records said. The court ordered a pre-sentencing investigation and a sentencing hearing was set for Oct. 11. Additional charges of terroristic threats and domestic assault were dismissed.

MARSHALL - Thomas James Byrne, 50, of Ghent appeared in Lyon County District Court Sept. 14 on charges of violating a restricted driver's license, two counts of fourth degree driving while impaired charges, and no insurance charges. Byrne drove with an alcohol level of .16 in an uninsured vehicle in Lyon County on July 16, a complaint alleges. Bail was set at $4,000 without conditions, or with conditions including complete the booking process, abstain from alcohol and drugs, and do not enter bars or liquor stores. A hearing was set for Oct. 11.
