Runke hired at SW/WC Service Cooperative

Alissa Runke has been hired by the SW/WC Service Cooperative in Marshall as a qualified mental health practitioner at the Belview Learning Center in Belview. Runke will facilitate mental health and skills groups for K-12 students. She previously worked as a mental health practitioner at Lutheran Social Services. She has a master's degree in social work.

North Star promotions

North Star Mutual Insurance of Cottonwood recently announced the promotions of Brandt Baldry, Ellie Schuster, and Jay Kleven of the Property/Casualty Claims Department.

Baldry was promoted to claims representative. He began employment in September of 2007 and served as an assistant claims representative prior to his promotion. Baldry and his wife, Emily, live in Cottonwood with their children, Isaac and Nora.

Schuster was promoted to senior claims representative. She began employment in December of 1997 and served as a claims representative prior to her promotion. Schuster lives near Wood Lake with her children, Wyatt and Michaela.

Kleven was also promoted to senior claims representative. He began employment in July of 2007 and was a claims representative prior to his promotion. He lives near Dawson with his wife, Lisa.

Hoffman & Brobst adds Bliss to staff

Hoffman & Brobst, PLLP announces the addition of Tamara Bliss to its accounting staff. Bliss is a native of Canby, and a 2009 graduate of Dakota State University with degrees in accounting and finance. Bliss is involved in the accounting, audit and income tax areas of the firm's practice.

Hadler passes CPA exam

Hoffman & Brobst, PLLP announces that Zach Hadler has successfully completed the Certified Public Accountant examination and the other requirements necessary in obtaining his CPA license. Hadler is a 2007 graduate of St. Cloud State University and has been with the firm since July of 2009. He is involved in the accounting, audit and income tax areas of the firm's practice.

Computer class offered through MNWest

MNWest Community & Technical College sponsored continuing education-Computer class-Word 2010-Practical Tips and Tricks will be from 6:30-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10 and 17, at the Merit Center-1001 Erie Road (County Road 33)-Marshall. Instructor for this class will be Ruth Bot. Learn new features of word 2010, along with improving and refreshing your skills when working with Microsoft Office Components.

Class is 2 1/2 hours each night, with a week between to give time to practice skills and have any questions answered. The cost for five hour class-two nights is $65.

Employer seminar offered - Workers' Compensation in Minnesota

Learn the Dos and Don'ts of Minnesota Workers' Compensation from the Minnesota Department of Labor & Industry experts. Hear about options to control workers compensation costs, what to do when an injury occurs or is reported and leave with workers' compensation resources and phone numbers. The seminars are scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, in Marshall. Presenters are James Vogel Director of Compliance, Records, and Training Unit for the MN Dept of Labor & Industry - Workers' Comp division.

Marion Halverson - Senior Compliance Officer for MN Department of Labor & Industry - Workers' Comp Division. There is a $15 registration fee which includes materials, refreshments and possible continuing education hours.
