MARSHALL - Brenda Lee Kaffenbarger, 45, of Tyler appeared in Lyon County District Court Nov. 1 on six counts of check forgery charges. Kaffenbarger forged checks totaling more than $13,000 from her employer in Lyon County in incidents between May and September, a complaint alleges. Attorney Pamela Neumann requested a jury trial. A pre-trial hearing was set for Jan. 10, and a trial date was set for Jan. 18 and 19.
MARSHALL - Juana Lares Hernandez, 28, of Marshall pleaded guilty in Lyon County District Court Nov. 1 to charges of aggravated forgery, court records said. Hernandez used false records to gain employment in Marshall in 2010, court records said. Hernandez received a stay of imposition of sentence, and five years probation with conditions including serve 48 days in jail with credit for seven days served, and surrender all documents with a false identity.
