To the editor:
My wife and I have gone out to hear some good music lately. Howard and Sonja Hanson play music mostly in southeastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota. They play country western and lots of polka music.
Last August they played at the Hanley Falls threshing show. They have lived on a farm by Astoria, S.D., for many years.
Also we love to hear Bob and the Beachcombers. They perform all over the U.S. They feature lots of Beach Boys music from the 1960s and 1970s. They are very good.
Another fantastic 1950s and 1960s rock and roll band is the Starfire Band out of Fulda. They are a five-man band. They play mostly in southwestern Minnesota.
We also attended the Lincoln County Fair in Tyler this summer and heard the Larry Olsen Band perform. They play a lot of polka music and they are fabulous.
Last of all my favorite radio station is KISD at 98.7 FM at Pipestone. My favorite DJ is Mylan Ray who spins records in the mornings. We have become good friends in recent years. This station features "old time rock and roll."
Mylan Ray DJ'd at Key Largo on Lake Shetek late summer "Cash Giveaway" and my wife and I attended it. It was very enjoyable. He is our favorite DJ of all time.
Thank you Mylan Ray and KISD.
