MARSHALL - The city of Marshall's compost, tree and brush disposal site will reopen at 9 a.m. Wednesday, the city said in a news release Monday.

The site has been closed since last week's fire.

The city also reported Monday that a substantial amount of illegal dumping at the site during the time of closure, which created addition hazards to expanded fire potential.

The city said smoke from the fire is also a significant issue for the adjacent ADM corn processing plant, as the smoke could have a negative impact on the plant's production quality.

The city reminds residents to not dispose of any fireplace ashes or debris and to not start fires at the site. Such actions will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
