Veterans did not go unnoticed at Marshall school

November 22, 2011
Marshall Independent

To the editor:

I was proud to see that Kevin, a 12-year-old, took the time to write his concerns about a lack of a Veterans Day program in area schools. I am always happy to see students taking part in their community.

I did want to mention, though, the Marshall Middle School did have a Veterans Day program. The middle school orchestra, choir and students participated in an event in which we honored a very special guest, World War II veteran Ray Goergen.

The Marshall Independent covered this event and had some pictures in the Nov. 12 paper of Ray Goergen and students.

Once again, I only wanted to clarify that an event did take place at the Marshall Middle School. I completely agree with Kevin that too many times our veterans go unnoticed. Thank you Kevin for taking the time to honor them.
