To the editor:
Several weeks ago, I asked for your help in collecting shoes, socks and boots for the Lamia-Afghan Foundation. I want to thank everyone for their donations. What started out as a simple idea, mushroomed into something much more than I ever expected. My goal was to get 200 items, but with your help, my house was filled with 1,014 items! Just think, there are more than 1,000 people that will have something warm on their feet, maybe some for the first time in their lives.
Thank you for living the true meaning of Christmas.
I would like to thank the following locations for allowing me to place a box for collection: Holy Redeemer Church and School, County Fair, Hy-Vee, the R & D Dept at Schwan, US Bank, Marshall Public Schools, St. Mary's School in Bird Island and Olivia Dental.
I would like to challenge other teens to find a way to help others. Maybe it is somebody in your school, church, community or world. It doesn't need to be complicated, but just a willingness to want to help someone else.
Merry Christmas everyone.
