7:00 p.m.- Meeting was called to order by Chairman Fenske. Members present: Stensrud, Fenske, Goodenow, Anderson, County Administrator Stomberg, County Auditor/Treasurer Van Overbeke.
Absent: Attorney Maes, Commissioner Ritter
Stomberg In September 2011, the County Board passed a preliminary levy of $12,225,341 which is an increase of $61,000. Stomberg reviewed 2012 preliminary budget.
7:27 p.m. Fenske asked for comments.
Al Gregg A question about 392 and 393 an increase and they are not reflected. Stomberg Those programs are funded two different ways. One is the State Score grant and another one is a Solid Waste Special assessment. That is the source used to fund that. It comes through special assessments. Norm Gregerson I'm looking at Health and Human Services, how does that compare to last year and 2005 and 2006? What happened to the down turn with the economy? Discussion on Health and Human Services. Paul Gervais What all does line item 697 include? Does that include the Lyon County Soil and Water? Discussion on Soil and Water being a separate entity. Stomberg The proposed budget for Soil and Water is $87,500. Fenske asked for additional comments.
Stomberg- Some of the questions have been about market valuations. We have seen large increases in the value of agricultural land. Dean Champine gave on overview of market valuation changes in Lyon County.
Marie Thooft I have property in Florence and the lots part is $90 an acre taxes, it ranges from $77 to $90 an acre. Discussion on property tax rates in Florence. Discussion on city of Florence being unincorporated.
Fenske asked for additional comments.
Stomberg The final adoption of the 2012 budget on December 20, 2011 at 10:15 a.m.
