Chip in at the new library

January 25, 2012
Marshall Independent

To the editor:

I am one of several volunteers who shelved books at the old library and who now shelves books at the new library. Some volunteers have a regularly scheduled day and time when they shelve every week. Others, like me, only shelve when called. Since the new library opened in November, I have been called more often. The increase in use of the library is dramatic and the number of books which are loaned and returned has exploded. The paid staff and the regularly-scheduled volunteers simply can't keep up with it. Thus, if you have some spare time and would enjoy working with books in a beautiful, friendly atmosphere, I hope you will consider volunteering at the library.

Thank you to all the individuals and organizations which have made the new library a reality. It is a tremendous asset to our community. It is a tremendous asset to my life.
