Master's degree informational meetings at SMSU
Southwest Minnesota State University will host a series of informational meetings about its on-campus master's degree programs in the coming weeks.
SMSU offers three master's degrees. They include Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Science in Education and Master of Science in Special Education.
The meetings all begin at 4:30 p.m. and will be Monday, Feb. 13, in SC 206; Wednesday, Feb. 22, in SC 249; and Tuesday, Feb. 28, in SC 249.
Classes will begin in the summer and fall, and will be delivered either on weekday evenings, online or selected Saturdays.
MBA: The program is designed to provide tomorrow's leaders with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in a global business economy. Along with the general MBA concentration, the program also offers concentrations in the fields of leadership and marketing.
Master of Science in Education: Emphasis areas include teaching, learning & leadership, reading. English, English as a Second Language, math and sports leadership.
Master of Science in Special Education: Licensures are available in developmental disabilities, emotional behavioral disorders, early childhood education and learning disabilities.
There is also an autism certificate available in special education.

Green vice president of Environmental Awareness Club
Christopher Green, a senior environmental science major from Marshall, is the vice president of the Environmental Awareness Club at Southwest Minnesota State University for the 2012-2013 academic year.
This club is dedicated to getting students and the community to become more active in their surroundings.
Evans president of Graphic Design Club
Joseph Evans, a junior undeclared major from Marshall, is the president of the Graphic Design Club at Southwest Minnesota State University for the 2012-2013 academic year.
The club is for students interested in graphic design. It's a place for interested students to meet socially, give and get help on projects, take trips and have fun.
The purpose of the GDC club shall be to promote and coordinate graphic design activities at SMSU.
Suby named assistant director of admission
Marshall native Matt Suby has been named assistant director of admission at Southwest Minnesota State University.
Suby has been interim assistant director of admission since March 2010.
As assistant director, Suby oversees ambassadors, work-study students and scholarship initiatives; coordinates the mentor scholarship program; organizes registration programs; maintains the student records database; and works with staff and the director of admission regarding enrollment goals and marketing initiatives.
Suby is the son of Tom and Kathy Suby of Marshall. He graduated from Marshall High School in 2001, and from Augustana College in January 2006. He plans to receive his master's in education from SMSU in May.
