Dad's Belgian Waffle fundraiser Wednesday at Carlin Hall

Dad's Belgian Waffles will be served from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, to support Holy Redeemer's Youth serving on a Mission Trip this summer. This will be a free-will offering at Holy Redeemer Church in Carlin Hall. There will also be a silent auction at the same time and place for the teens' time, talent and treasures.

Sales of Yost book to benefit Healing Waters Parish

A new book by former Cottonwood resident Dana Yost is now available in paperback and e-book forms, with Yost's portion of the proceeds being donated to Healing Waters Parish, a group of five rural Yellow Medicine County ELCA churches. The book, titled "The Faith We Live," is a collection of mostly previously published newspaper stories and columns, along with feature stories Yost has written for church and other publications. There are two new essays, a handful of poems and three devotions as well. The essays largely focus on how faith makes a difference in the lives of everyday people, often in everyday circumstances. Yost has authored two previously published books, and spent 29 years as an award-winning daily newspaper editor and writer at papers in the Midwest. CDA spring luncheons start Feb. 23 in Slayton

The spring luncheons sponsored by the Catholic Daughters will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays at St. Ann's Hall, Slayton. The menu includes hot sandwiches, salads, desserts, milk, and free coffee. Carryouts are available.

Catholic Daughters offer scholarship

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas local Court St. Joan of Arc 1291 is offering a $500 scholarship to a 2012 graduating Catholic girl who plans to continue her formal education. She must be a member of Holy Redeemer Parish or any of the adjacent Catholic parishes that do not have a Catholic Daughters Court.

Applications are available at the Holy Redeemer Parish office or from Madonna Cinkle, 1206 Westwood Drive, Marshall, MN 56258. Phone 532-5895. Complete forms, including letters of recommendations, must be returned to Cinkle no later than April 15.
