Marshall Evangelical Free Church
Throughout the years campus ministry has taken a deep place in our hearts at Marshall Evangelical Free Church. It is always exciting and energizing to hear stories of how God is moving on the campus and in the next generation. You may have heard of Campus Crusade for Christ, now known as Cru, but we wanted you to hear about it from a student's perspective. Enjoy! The following article was written by Daniel J. O'Brien.
The lights dim low. The band starts the night off with the song Here I am to Worship. Approximately 100 students lend their voices to the melody as they give praise to God and harmonize with each other in spirit.
Cru's purpose is to encourage people to have an intimate relationship with Christ and to receive His salvation. Students in Cru believe that Christ died for humanity's sins, and it is their sincerest desire to share this with others. Cru also provides a place where students can, in addition to worship, grow in their faith and make solid friendships with other Christians.
In addition to worship, many speakers come to Cru and give brief message about the life of Christ, and how He came to save mankind. Pastors, youth pastors and students have spoken in Cru with the purpose of helping others in their spiritual journeys. Both Christians and people that have questions about Jesus are encouraged to come and experience Cru. Students here extend a warm welcome to everyone and provide a friendly atmosphere.
All in all, if you know of someone in need of a Christian community on campus, Cru is the place to go. Their presence will be welcomed, and the friendships they forge there will change their life.
