BALATON - Services for Virginia "Ginny" Swenson, 58, of Balaton will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sillerud Lutheran Church of rural Balaton. Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. today at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Burial is in Sillerud Lutheran Cemetery. Stephens Funeral Service - Tracy Area Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at her home after a courageous battle with breast cancer.

Virginia Swenson
Virginia Ann Swenson was born Oct. 1, 1953, in Winona, to Laverne and Marian (Wacholz) Schwantz. She graduated from Onalaska, Wis. High School and went on to Dr. Martin Lutheran College. On May 30, 1986, she was united in marriage to Doug Swenson. Over the years, Ginny taught school, did daycare, and worked at Colonial Manor in Balaton. Most recently she worked at HyVee in the seafood department. Ginny enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Ginny is survived by her husband, Doug of Balaton; sons, Erich of Gillette, Wyo., Christopher and Seth, both of Kaycee, Wyo., and Jonathon of Balaton; mother, Marian Schwantz of St. Charles; siblings, David Schwantz of Altura, Daryle (Sue) Schwantz of Lewiston, Philip (Sandy) of Altura, and Sara Schwantz of Rochester; brothers and sister-in-law, Mark (Barb) Swenson of Balaton, Mary Swenson of Canby, Jeanne (Curt) Sieve of Alexandria; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her father, Laverne Schwantz.
