Section 3A-North

Dawson-Boyd 49, CMCS 46

Dawson-Boyd picked up its scoring in the second half to defeat Central Minneota Christian 49-46 in the Section 3A-North quarterfinals Saturday in Montevideo. The Blackjacks trailed 20-16 at the half.

Dawson-Boyd (14-9 overall) hit nine three-pointers in the game. Justine Lee knocked down four threes, scoring a game-high 17 points to go with 10 rebounds and five assists. Sarah Zaiser hit four threes and added 15 points in the win.

CMCS got 11 points and nine rebounds from Heather Blom, and Alexis Scott and Jaclyn Swart each scored 10 points.

Dawson-Boyd, the No. 4 seed in the sub-section, will face No. 1 seed Minneota in the semifinals. The game will be played at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

Top seed Minneota advanced to the semifinals of the Section 3A-North semifinals with a 63-45 victory over eighth-seeded Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Saturday in Montevideo.

Freshman Taylor Reiss had a strong game for the Vikings (26-1 overall) with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Kelsey Hennen added 11 points and six steals for Minneota, which will play No. 4 seed Dawson-Boyd at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the R/A Facility at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall.

KMS, which finishes its season at 8-18, got 14 points from Ali Clark and 11 points from Ellen Johnson.

Senior Riley Nordgaard had 22 points, 12 rebounds three assists and three steals to put the No. 3-seeded Lancers over No. 6 Lakeview 56-37 in the Section 3A-North playoffs Saturday in Montevideo.

Adding to the Lancers' firepower were Ricki Kallhoff and Casie Baer, who had 12 and 10 points, respectively. Baer also had a team-high four assists as Canby takes on No. 2 seed MACCRAY at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the R/A Facility at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall.

Guard Corbyn Wee led the way for the Lakers with 12 points, including a pair of three-pointers. Emily Swenson had nine points, and Sarah Berg added 8. Lakeview ends the season at 13-15 overall.

Wabasso sophomore center Chelsey Guetter scored a game-high 28 points and had 12 rebounds to help lead the Rabbits to a 64-59 victory over Edgerton in the quarterfinals of the Section 3A-South tournament Saturday in Worthington.

Guetter scored half of her points from the foul line, where she went 14 of 19. Kimberly Frank had 12 points and 11 steals for the Rabbits, who forced Edgerton into 40 turnovers in the game.

Wabasso trailed 37-32 at halftime.

Lindsey Drooger and Sarah Post scored 16 and 12 points, respectively, for Edgerton in the losing effort.

The Rabbits (22-4), who are seeded fourth in the South bracket, will face No. 1 seed Fulda at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Worthington.

With Courtney Hulstein dropping 29 points, the No. 1-seeded Fulda Raiders knocked Russell-Tyler-Ruthton out of the Section 3A-South playoffs Saturday with a 73-35 victory in Worthington.

Hulstein finished with five three-pointers as Fulda held a 45-21 halftime lead. On Tuesday, the Raiders will take on No. 4-seed Wabasso in the sub-section semifinals.

Kaylie Nielsen finished with a team-high eight points for the Knights. Jenae Minett had six points and three steals in the loss.

RTR ends the season at 7-18 overall.

Holding sixth-seeded Murray County Central to eight second-half points, No. 3-seeded Adrian advanced in the Section 3A-South playoffs with a 39-27 victory Saturday in Worthington.

Pacing the Dragons on the scoreboard was Sydne Springman, who dropped a game-high 17 points. No other player, on either team, scored in double digits.

The Rebels got a team-high nine points from Jenna Ness. MCC trailed 24-19 at halftime.

Adrian faces No. 2 seed Southwest Minnesota Christian in the sub-section semifinals Tuesday in Worthington.

MCC ends the 2011-12 season with a 12-10 record.

Elkton-Lake Benton 77,

Flandreau 22

The Elkton-Lake Benton Lady Elks are one game away from the South Dakota Class A state tournament after winning the District 5A tournament with a dominant 77-22 victory over Flandreau Saturday in Tea, S.D.

The Lady Elks (19-3 overall) will take on Sioux Falls Christian in the Region 3A championship, which will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in Harrisburg.

E-LB held a 29-10 lead over Flandreau at halftime Saturday and outscored its opponent 48-12 in the second half.

Cassidy Gebhart had a game-high 18 points to go with seven assists and eight of her team's 26 steals. Stephanie Johnson added 17 points, and Megan Krogman had 15 points and seven rebounds.

Kendra Duncan scored seven points to lead Flandreau, which committed 36 turnovers in the game.
