MADISON, Wis. - Services for Alan H. Grue, 67, of Madison, will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace HospiceCare or Bethel Media Ministry. He died Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, at Agrace HospiceCare.

He was born Sept. 15, 1944, in New Ulm, to Roy and Gertrude (Paul) Grue. Alan graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall in 1962. He grew up in the family business of baking. He and Anita Schrupp married April 8, 1967. In 1975, Alan and Anita moved to St. Peter, where they opened up their own bakery. From 1987 until 1995, he was an instructor in the culinary arts department at Indian Hills College. After moving to Oconomowoc, he worked at the Bread Fountain Bakery in Waukesha from 1995 until 2001. They then moved back to Minnesota, where Alan also worked as a baker from 2001 until 2006. In 2006, the family moved to Madison where Alan worked for Carl's Cakes until retirement. He enjoyed hunting, painting, long arm quilting, mechanical embroidery, playing on his Mac computers, and spending time with his family and friends.

Alan is survived by his wife of 44 years, Anita; two daughters, Carmen (and Mark Thompson) Grue and Staci (and Kevin) Gilligan; grandchildren, Haley, Ryan, Gretchen, Shannon, and Kaitlyn; brother, Robert (and Janie) Grue; sister, Sandra (and Dar) Monson; many nieces and nephews; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue Ellen Kazemi.
