ECHO - Services for Earl Schlemmer, 83, of Echo, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church in Echo, with burial in the Vesta cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday with 6 p.m. prayer service at Sunset Funeral Home in Echo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Sunset Funeral and Cremation Association of Echo and Wabasso are in charge of the arrangements.
He died Friday, March 2, 2012, at Parkview Nursing Home in Belview.
He was born Aug. 19, 1928, in Underwood Township, Redwood County, to Albert and Lydia (Weimeier) Schlemmer.
From January 1951 to November 1952 he was a member of the Redwood Falls National Guard and served in the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife Trylis of Echo; children Gail Bernardy of Urbandale, Iowa, Lori Discher of Des Moines, Iowa, Amy Magnuson of Marshall and Layne Schlemmer of Flower Mound, Texas; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sister Audrey McCoy of Glenwood; and sister-in-law Norma Schlemmer.
