The Worthington girls basketball team used a 13-2 run at the end of the game to defeat Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 55-48 in the Section 3AA championship Friday at the R/A Facility at Southwest Minnesota State University.
Kristen Andersen and Mackenzie Gerber did the bulk of the scoring for the Trojans (20-7), scoring 20 and 19 points, respectively.
Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial (25-5) was led by Karina Schroeder, who scored 23 points, while Megan Schroeder added 14 in the loss.
Worthington will move on to face Sauk Centre, the winner of Section 6AA, on Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Target Center.
