Robert William Hoff
Hoff passed away peacefully in his home in the presence of his family early in the morning of March 7, 2012, after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Bob was born July 1, 1942, in Hendricks to Joseph and Esther Hoff (Wilking).
He was baptized and confirmed in Calvary Lutheran Church in Hendricks, and graduated from Hendricks High School in 1960. He then attended Minneapolis School of Business. He married Judith Ann Christensen in 1963, and had three children. That same year he enlisted in the Navy as an Electrician's Mate, where he served in Vietnam on the U.S.S. St. Paul. He received the Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, and was honorably discharged as an E-5 in 1967. He went on to pursue a career as a master electrician, beginning at Goos Electric in Tyler. He purchased that business, which he ran and owned successfully until 1983, at which point he moved his family to Colorado. He worked for a number of commercial electrical companies, finally settling in with Casey Industrial, where he worked throughout the United States and abroad. He retired from Casey in 2008, and moved to Eckert to live with his son and family, where he had the privilege of helping to raise his youngest granddaughter, Ava. Throughout his life, Bob's greatest joy was spending time with family. His favorite hobby was woodworking, and he was a member of Grand Valley Woodturners. Other hobbies included riding horse, camping, and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Judith, of Russell; daughters Shiela (Joel) Zuehlke of Fairmont, and Jennifer (Corey) Evans of Balaton; son Joseph (Sarah) Hoff; grandchildren: Shaun Madden, Isabella, Abigail, and Elijah Zuehlke; Colin, Derek, and Colton Evans; Ava Hoff; brother Richard (Wanice) Hoff; brother-in-law August Hamer; sister Donna (Eldon) Thurow; sister Joan (Burt) Pederson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
