CANBY - Services for William "Bill" Lund, 84, of Canby will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at Birk Funeral Home in Canby. Burial will be in Canby City Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by Canby-Porter Military Honor Guard.
He died Monday, March 19, 2012, at Sanford Canby Medical Center.
He was born May 31, 1927, in Canby, to Orrin and Anna (Ranch) Lund. On Dec. 7, 1944, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served his country during WWII aboard several different "LST" boats, one of which sank during a typhoon. Survivors spent several days lying injured on the beach before help arrived. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy on July 18, 1946.
Survivors include several cousins; two nieces; a nephew; many great nieces and nephews; six great-grandnieces and nephews.
