RUTHTON - Services for Lavonne Fuhrmann, 82, of Ruthton were March 15 at Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. Hartquist Funeral Home, Utoft-Johansen Chapel in Tyler is in charge of arrangements. Burial was in the Ruthton Cemetery.
She died Saturday, March 10, 2012, at the Tyler Healthcare Center in Tyler.

Lavonne June Fuhrmann
She was born June 20, 1929, to Clarence and Inez (Lee) Christensen on the family farm near Tyler, where she was raised and attended country school. She continued her education at Tyler High School and graduated as salutatorian in 1947. On June 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Fred Fuhrmann at the Scandia Free Church in Balaton. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near Tyler. In February 1949, they moved to a farm in Aetna Township near Ruthton. While living on the farm, Lavonne was an integral part of the farming operation working side by side with her husband. In 1992, she decided to try something new and attended Southwest Vocational School to study and become a home health care aide. Fred preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2009. After his death, she continued to reside on the family farm, but spent her winter months at Danebod Village in Tyler.
Lavonne was an active member of the Ruthton Methodist Church until the church closed. She then became a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Ruthton. Over the years, she was very active in the NFO, writing the NFO newsletter for Pipestone County. Earlier, she served as a 4-H leader in Ruthton. She was always eager to learn new things which kept her engaged in a wide variety of interests. She was an avid reader and card player. She enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles and solving Sudoku puzzles. She will be remembered by her family and friends for her big, generous hugs.
She is lovingly remembered by her son, Frederick and his wife Julie Fuhrmann of Woodbury; one grandson, Christopher Fuhrmann of Woodbury; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her beloved grandson, Aaron Fuhrmann; her parents; and two brothers, Alvin and Kenneth Christensen.
