She continued her education at Tyler High School and graduated as salutatorian in 1947. On June 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Fred Fuhrmann at the Scandia Free Church in Balaton. Following their marriage, they lived on a farm near Tyler. In February 1949, they moved to a farm in Aetna Township near Ruthton. While living on the farm, Lavonne was an integral part of the farming operation working side by side with her husband. In 1992, she decided to try something new and attended Southwest Vocational School to study and become a home health care aide. Fred preceded her in death on Feb. 18, 2009. After his death, she continued to reside on the family farm, but spent her winter months at Danebod Village in Tyler.
