Marshall Schools custodian Jim Albee gets his hair dyed for the day by Beth Ritter, Title I during West Side Elementary's "Caught With Character" celebration Wednesday morning. The students and staff also topped off its Pennies for Patients fund drive the students participated in for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The students exceeded their goal of raising $1,000 and had a grand total of $1,671.14. For achieving their goal, several brave teachers donned garbage bags and allowed other teachers to spray paint their hair with a temporary dye. The students called for other teachers and staff to get their hair dyed as well, including Principal Heidi Critchley. Last year, Critchley said, the teachers got their hair dyed at the end of the day, but this year the teachers had to go about their whole day with brightly colored hair. "And some of these teachers have to go to other schools with this hair," she said. "But we'll be proud to tell people why."
