WALNUT GROVE - Mass of Christian Burial for Joyce Rosemary Alcorn, 79, of Marshall, formerly of Walnut Grove, will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Walnut Grove on Tuesday. Burial is in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Walnut Grove. Stephens Funeral Service - Walnut Grove Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
She passed away Friday, March 30, 2012, from complications of stomach cancer at the Prairie Home Hospice House in Marshall while surrounded by all 11 of her children.

Joyce R. (Johnson) Alcorn was born May 6, 1932, in Bronson, Iowa, to Harry G. and Kathryn (Kingsbury) Johnson. She was baptized and confirmed in Sioux City, Iowa. Joyce graduated from Bronson High School and Morningside School of Business. On Dec. 27, 1952, Joyce was united in marriage to Robert Alcorn in Sioux City, Iowa. Together the couple had 11 children. Joyce was a very patient, generous person and always put others before herself. She was always willing to help others, and always said "yes" to any task. She loved visiting family and friends, quilting, gardening and canning. Joyce was known for her tremendous baking and cooking abilities. She loved watching all Minnesota sports teams. Above all, Joyce loved caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joyce is survived by all of her children, Betty (Ron) Kassel, Billy (Tara) Alcorn, Becky (Kerry) Knakmuhs, Ron (Toni) Alcorn, Don (Lisa) Alcorn, Barb (Mark) Olson, John (Sue) Alcorn, Jeanne (Dwight) Anderson, Nancy (Mark) Lintner, Tony (Patty) Alcorn and Ben Alcorn; grandchildren, Megan Mattison, Tyson Kassel, Dustin Alcorn, David Alcorn, Cody Alcorn, Nash Alcorn, Matthew Knakmuhs, Nate Knakmuhs, Andrea Porter, Justin Knakmuhs, Amber Whalen, Holly Eisen, Spencer Alcorn, Blake Alcorn, Heather Alcorn, Robert Alcorn, Maria Alcorn, Christy Alcorn, Erica Olson, Jessica Olson, Gretchen Anderson, Taylor Doyle, Emma Doyle, Andrew Doyle, Brandon Anderson, Hannah Anderson, Shannon Anderson, Emily Lintner, Chase Alcorn and Eli Alcorn; great-grandchildren, Aidan Mattison, Ethan Mattison, Logan Alcorn, Lauren Alcorn, Henry Alcorn, Eleanor Alcorn, Noah Knakmuhs, Lauren Knakmuhs, Orion Knakmuhs, Ella Knakmuhs, Ian Knakmuhs, Leighton Porter, Henry Whalen, Cormic Whalen, Murphy Whalen, Maisy Eisen, Sawyer Eisen, Lilah Alcorn and Avery Olson; brother, Howard (Pat) Johnson; sister, Mary (Dean) Schager; sisters-in-law, Laura Johnson and JoAnn Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in September of 2011; granddaughter, Mallory Rose Anderson, and brothers, Don Johnson and Connie Johnson.
