The Lakeview softball team scored six runs in the top of the second inning to power its way to a 10-1 road win over Martin County West Saturday in the season opener for both teams.
Lyndsey Peterson had a single, a double and a triple, knocking in three runs to lead Lakeview offensively. She also earned the win in the circle, striking out out 11 batters while allowing just three hits and two walks in a complete-game effort. Abby Lee added two hits for Lakeview, including a double. Sarah Berg and Rachel Kurtenbach also each had two hits for the Lakers, who had 11 hits total.
Lakeview (1-0 overall) plays again Thursday, traveling to Ellsworth to take on Adrian.
