RTR boys defeat Adrian

The Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys and girls golf teams started the spring season Monday with a dual against Adrian at Tyler Golf Club.

The RTR boys team defeated Adrian by 14 strokes, posting a score of 170.

Hudson VanDrunen had the low round of the day for the Knights with a 36. RTR's Nate Christensen added a round of 42, while Nathan VanDrunen shot a 43 and Andrew Miller shot a 49.

The Adrian girls team shot a 248. RTR had just three golfers and didn't post a team score.

Adrian's Marissa Veld earned medalist honors with a 48. Hannah Kruger led RTR with a round of 50.

The RTR girls return to competition Monday at Marshall Golf Course. The RTR boys will take to the links in Marshall on Tuesday.

Boys Team Scores: RTR 170, Adrian 184.

RTR Individual Scores: Hudson VanDrunen 36, Nate Christensen 42, Nathan VanDrunen 43, Andrew Miller 49, Hunter Burns 51, Christian Johnson 54.

Adrian Individual Scores: Ben Henning 46, Justin Elias 46, Collin Kemper 46, Ryan Elias 46, Troy Christians 59, Coltin Klosterman 65.

Girls Team Scores: Adrian 248, RTR incomplete.

RTR Individual Scores: Hannah Kruger 50, Kelsey Stanek 58, Lyndsay Moberg 81.

Adrian Individual Scores: Marissa Veld 48, Katie Wieneke 55, MacKenzie Wagner 73, Jada Elias 72.

Wabasso girls top field in Fairfax

The Wabasso boys and girls golf teams were in Fairfax Monday for a triangular against Cedar Mountain and New Ulm Cathedral.

In the boys' team competition, Cedar Mountain earned top honors with a score of 186. New Ulm Cathedral got second place with a 205, and Wabasso took third with a 236.

Cedar Mountain's Tristan Pietig won medalist honors with a round of 45. Marcus Bruflat shot a 49 to lead Wabasso.

The Wabasso girls shot a 209 to hold off New Ulm Cathedral by five strokes. Cedar Mountain had an incomplete team.

Briana Jenniges had Wabasso's low round with a 50. Kendra Haase and Taylor Doubler each shot 52.

New Ulm Cathedral's Brooke Dummer shot a 45 to earn medalist honors.

Boys Team Scores: 1. Cedar Mountain 186, 2. New Ulm Cathedral 205, 3. Wabasso 236.

Wabasso Individual Scores: Marcus Bruflat 49, Connor Huhnerkoch 57, Shawn Zollner 62, Scott Christensen 68, Kyle Campbell 69.

Girls Team Scores: 1. Wabasso 209, 2. New Ulm Cathedral 214, Incomplete-Cedar Mountain.
