TMB 8, Adrian 6
Eight different players combined for 10 hits to help the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team win its season opener 8-6 against Adrian Tuesday in Tracy.
Jenny Welu led the Panthers at the plate and from the circle. She had a pair of doubles in the game and threw all seven innings to earn the win, giving up six runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and four walks. Casey Iverson added a pair of singles for TMB.
Adrian's Kayla Lonneman and Heidi Nolte each had two hits in the loss.
The Panthers open their Camden Conference schedule next Tuesday with a game against Lakeview in Cottonwood.

Dawson-Boyd 6, YME 3
The Dawson-Boyd softball team won Tuesday against Yellow Medicine East without putting an earned run on the board. The Sting committed eight errors in the game, leading to all of the Blackjacks' runs in a 6-3 Dawson-Boyd victory in Granite Falls in the season opener for both teams.
With the teams tied at three through four innings, Dawson-Boyd pitcher Sadie Zaiser came in and shut the Sting down. She threw three scoreless innings without giving up a hit. She had four strikeouts and one walk while earning the win.
The Sting (0-1 overall) resume action Tuesday with a road game against BOLD. Dawson-Boyd (1-0) faces Ortonville Tuesday in Dawson.

Springfield 9, RRC/WWG 7
The Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove baseball team scored six runs in the bottom of the sixth, but were unable to overcome an eight-run deficit, falling to Springfield 9-7 on Tuesday in Lamberton.
Dylan Bunting led the Falcons (1-1 overall) at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a triple and three RBI while Taylor Volmer went 3-for-3 and Logan Wilhite was 2-for-3.
The Falcons will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Windom to face the Eagles.

MCC boys win home invite
The Murray County Central boys golf team won while the girls took second in the first home triangular of the season.
The Rebels were led by medalist Adam Christensen's 38. Ben Loosbrock shot a 42, while Devin Erickson and Grant Everson both turned in scores of 44.
The Westbrook-Walnut Grove boys shot a 179, led by Dana Madson's 40. Taylor Lindaman added a 44, while Nick Lehnhoff and Aaron Hass shot 47 and 48, respectively.
The Fulda girls golf team beat MCC by six strokes while WWG had an incomplete score.
WWG received a 51 from Abby Herding, while Paige Erickson shot a 65.
MCC was led by Hannah Davis, who shot a 51. Kirbie Tedrick scored a 55, while Haleigh Clarke and Liz Prahm shot 56 and 57, respectively.
The Rebels will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Sanborn for a triangular.

TMB competes at Cardinal

Kassidy Przymus, Sammie Gervais and Anna Peterson all took first place for the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton girls' track and field team, while Eric Donner got a first-place finish for the Panther boys at the Cardinal Invitational in Luverne on Tuesday.
No team scores were reported.
Przymus finished in first place in the discus with a distance of 98 feet, 8 inches, and she also took fifth place in the shot put (28-0.5) and the 100-meter hurdles (19.67 seconds).
Gervais had a first-place finish in the high jump with a height of 4-10, while Peterson topped the pole vault with a height of 7-0.
In the boys' events, Donner finished in first place in the high jump with a height of 5-10.
Next Tuesday, TMB hosts a track meet at Tracy Area High School, starting at 4 p.m.

C/M/L girls win at MCC
The Canby/Minneota/Lincoln HI girls track team took top honors in the MCC Early Bird track meet on Tuesday while host team Murray County Central came in third and Russell-Tyler-Ruthton finished in fifth.
On the boys' side, Worthington paced the pack with 147 points. MCC was second, with C/M/L and RTR finishing in third and sixth, respectively.
Kara Homandberg took first in the 100-meter dash for the Rebels with a time of 13.78 seconds. Hannah Schmidt matched her with a first in the 400 for MCC before C/M/L went 1-2-3 in the 3,200 with Leah Jessen, Amanda Grengs and Sydney Sisk.
MCC topped three of the four relays, taking first in the 4x200, the 4x400 and the 4x800 on the day.
C/M/L's Riley Nordgaard hit a mark of 5-feet in the high jump, while the Knights' Jada Carr swept the long and triple jump.
Jack Thony took a trio of first-place finishes for the host team, winning the 100, 200 and long jump for MCC.
Tanner Nepp added a first-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 44-8, while Nathan Pavek went 5-4 in the high jump for C/M/L.
The Lancers also placed first in the 4x100 relay.
