Lakeview 5, Adrian Area 1
A four-run fifth inning powered the Lakeview softball team to a 5-1 victory over Adrian Area Thursday in Adrian.
Anissa Peppersack had two hits, a walk and scored a pair of runs for the Lakers in the win. Lyndsey Peterson had a double and two RBIs.
Peterson also earned the win in the circle for Lakeview, pitching all seven innings. She struck out 10 batters and walked none, giving up three hits and one unearned run.
Lakeview (2-0 overall) plays again Tuesday, taking on Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in Cottonwood.

A bases-loaded double by Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove's Brady Bierl sparked a big seven-run inning for the Falcons in a 10-7 win over Windom Area Thursday in Windom.
RRC/WWG's Dylan Bunting had a double and a triple in the game, and Taylor Vollmer went 2-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored.
Vollmer also picked up the win on the mound. He struck out four and walked four, giving up seven runs (only two earned) on seven hits in 5 1/3 innings. Bierl came on in the sixth and earned the save.
Both teams had four errors in the game.
The win moves RRC/WWG to 2-1 on the season. The Falcons resume action Monday with a home game against Saint James in Lamberton.

Cardinals best RRC on road
Playing in Sanborn on Thursday, the Redwood Valley boys and girls golf teams each won in a dual meet against Red Rock Central. The Cardinal boys won 171-196, while Redwood Valley girls defeated the Falcons 218-223.
In the girls' meet, RRC's Alison Kircher took medalist honors after carding a nine-hole score of 43. Shelby Evans followed Kircher with a 58. Madison Thokes led Redwood Valley with a score of 52.
In the boys' meet, Redwood Valley's Alec Koster and Joe Smith shared medalist honors with 42s. For the Falcons, Jordan Smith shot the team's low score with a 45.
