Panthers get Camden sweep over Lakeview

Facing off in Cottonwood, the Tracy-Milroy-Balaton softball team picked up a Camden Conference sweep over Lakeview on Tuesday.

In Game 1, Panthers pitcher Jenny Welu struck out 11, while allowing only five hits and one walk for the complete-game victory. Welu was also stellar at the plate, going 2-for-4 and scoring twice. Jenna Stoneberg had two hits, two runs and three RBIs in the victory. Lyndsey Peterson had two hits for the Lakers in Game 1.

In the nightcap, Welu went all seven innings again, striking out seven for the win. Welu, along with Kate Johnston, Alexis Buysse, Ashley Daniels, Galiya Bitton and Alyssa Campbell had two hits as TMB racked up 15 hits in Game 2. Peterson led Lakeview again on offense, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while Abby Lee added a pair of hits.

The Panthers (2-0 Camden, 3-0 overall) hosts Dawson-Boyd on Friday, while the Lakers (0-2, 2-2) head to Russell-Tyler-Ruthton on Friday.

Dawson-Boyd 9, Ortonville 6

Dawson-Boyd scored four runs in the second inning and went on to pick up a 9-6 victory over Ortonville in a non-conference high school softball game Tuesday in Dawson.

Katie Hutt went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for the Blackjacks. She also pitched 2 2/3 innings in relief of Sadie Zaiser, who earned the win after tossing the first 4 1/3 innings and fanning six batters.

Nicole Jurgenson was 2-for-4 with a double for Dawson-Boyd, while Kaitlin Johnshoy had a base hit and scored three runs.

The Blackjacks (2-0 overall) play at Tracy-Milroy-Balaton Friday.

Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg opened its season with a doubleheader sweep over Minneota/Canby/Lincoln HI in Camden Conference high school softball action Tuesday in Murdock.

Kelsea Tolk pitched a complete game in both contests for the Vikings, striking out six batters in nine total innings. Each game was shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule.

Hannah Duis had a first-inning single in the nightcap for M/C/L (0-2 Camden, 0-2 overall), which plays at Adrian Area Friday.

Adrian Area 13, MCC 9

The Adrian Area Dragons scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to secure a 13-9 victory over the Murray County Central Rebels in a Red Rock Conference high school softball game Tuesday in Slayton.

Rachel Kontz (four strikeouts, no walks) picked up a complete-game win on the mound for the Dragons, while the Rebels' Ashley Clarke (10 strikeouts, 11 walks) also pitched a complete game.

Kenda Blomgren was 2-for-4 with a triple for MCC, while Makenzie Giese (2-for-4, three RBIs) and Michaela Hartle (2-for-3) each belted home runs. Taylor Schreier went 3-for-4 for the Rebels.

MCC (0-1 Red Rock, 0-1 overall) plays at Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Thursday.

Alyssa Rothmeier had three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs, and Kimberly Frank held Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart to one hit in a 14-3 Tomahawk Conference win Tuesday in Hector.

Frank allowed one walk and struck out six en route to a complete-game victory. She also was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, and Desi Kramer added two doubles for the Rabbits, who improve to 1-1 overall. Shawna Rogotzke and Ellen Franta both had two hits in the win.

Wabasso resumes Tomahawk Conference play Thursday, hosting Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop.

Allie Trudel led Yellow Medicine East to a 10-4 victory over BOLD in a West Central Conference high school softball game Tuesday afternoon in Olivia.

Trudel pitched a complete game, striking out six batters and allowing just two earned runs on six hits and no walks in seven innings. She was also 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate.

Courtney Hinz was 1-for-4 with three runs batted in for the Sting (1-0 West Central, 1-1 overall), who play at Montevideo Thursday.

Sam Haas and Preston Kraft each homered and drove in four runs, leading Lac qui Parle Valley to an 11-0 victory over Lakeview in a non-conference high school baseball game Tuesday afternoon in Madison.

Haas was 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and four RBIs, while Kraft was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs. Ben Morken struck out seven batters and pitched a five-inning no-hitter with three walks, as well.

Derek Larsen and Wyatt Schuser shared the pitching duties for Lakeview (0-2), which hosts Springfield Thursday.

Sam Erickson took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and helped lead the Murray County Central Rebels to a 7-1 victory over the Adrian Dragons in a Red Rock Conference high school baseball game Tuesday afternoon in Adrian.

Erickson struck out six batters in a complete-game outing, allowing just one run, one walk and a sixth-inning single to Mitchell Sieve.

Nate Wieneke (2-for-4, three RBIs) and Ryan Erickson each belted a double for MCC, and Chris Halbur stole a trio of bases for the Rebels.

Logan Rogers pitched 5 2/3 innings for Adrian (0-1 Red Rock, 0-3 overall), while Sieve and Nate Loosbrock came on in relief.

MCC (1-0, 1-0) hosts Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Friday.

Blake Altermatt pitched five strong innings to help the Wabasso Rabbits earn a 6-3 victory over Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart in a Tomahawk Conference high school baseball game Tuesday in Milroy.

Altermatt recorded five strikeouts and allowed three hits, three walks and two runs before Aaron Brau tossed the final two frames for Wabasso (2-0 Tomahawk, 2-0 overall).

Brau was also 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for the Rabbits, while Dirk Pistulka also smacked a double and drove in a run.

Wabasso plays at Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Thursday.

Riley Aeikiens went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and two RBIs for the Wolverines (0-2).

Smacking four doubles and receiving a strong pitching performance from Dylan Bunting, the Red Rock Central/Westbrook-Walnut Grove Falcons claimed an 8-3 victory over the Southwestern United Wildcats in a Red Rock Conference high school baseball game Tuesday in Lamberton.

Bunting struck out seven batters in a complete-game effort, allowing four hits, one walk and three runs (one earned) for the Falcons.

Daniel Maras (two RBIs), Jeff DeCock (two RBIs), Brian Hagberg (3-for-3, two RBIs) and Henry Rogotzke each cracked a double for RRC/WWG, while Jacob Comnick was 2-for-4.

The Falcons (1-0 Red Rock, 4-1 overall) play at Murray County Central Friday.

MCC boys top RRC, Fulda

The Murray County Central boys' golf team, led by Adam Christensen's nine-hole round of 39, took the top team honors in a triangular in Sanborn against Red Rock Central and Fulda.

With a team score of 163, the Rebels took first, while the Falcons (187) finished in second. MCC's Grant Everson followed Christensen with a 40, and Jordan Smith shot a team-best 41 for RRC.

In the girls' meet, the Raiders won with a team score of 205, getting past MCC (214) and RRC (220).

The Falcons' Alison Kircher took medalist honors with a 43, while Hannah Davis led the Rebels with a round of 46.

Wabasso girls win

at Springfield

Wabasso's Brianna Jenniges and Sandra Brau split medalist honors after carding 50s, helping the Rabbit girls to a first-place finish in a triangular in Springfield on Tuesday.

The Wabasso girls finished with a team score of 209, finishing 32 strokes ahead of second-place Springfield.

For the boys, Marcus Bruflat carded a team-best 46 for the Rabbits, who finished in third place with 212. Springfield, led by medalist Buddy Kretsch's 40, won the team title with a 176.

Boys Team Scores: 1. Springfield 176; 2. Minnesota Valley Lutheran 201; 3. Wabasso 212.
