The Southwest Minnesota State women's tennis team dropped a pair of Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference games on Saturday against Bemidji State and Upper Iowa at Gold's Gym in St. Cloud. The Mustangs fell 6-3 to the Beavers, before getting swept 9-0 to the Peacocks in the second match.
Sunday's match against Sioux Falls, scheduled to be played in Marshall, was canceled due to rain.
Against Bemidji State on Saturday, Angie Wiegmann and Katie Kienitz racked up all three Mustang victories.
In No. 1 singles, Wiegmann topped Britney Greenwaldt in a 6-2, 6-2 match, while Kienitz used a 10-1 tiebreaker to defeat Kelli Christianen 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 in No. 2 singles.
In No. 1 doubles, Wiegmann and Kienitz worked together to defeat the Beavers' duo of Miranda Milless and Carey Westin, 8-3.
