Hosting a tournament on Saturday, the Wabasso softball team took first place, defeating Edgerton/Southwest Minnesota Christian 6-4 in the championship game.
In their first game Saturday, the Rabbits defeated Benilde-St. Margaret's 8-7.
In the championship game, Kimberly Frank got the win in the circle, and helped give Wabasso a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the third inning with a two-run home run. Desi Kramer added some pop from the plate, going 2-for-2, while Kendra Eichten had a double in the victory.
Against the Red Knights in Game 1, Frank notched her first pitching victory of the day, striking out seven in a complete game. She also went 3-for-3 at the plate and sparked the Rabbits in the bottom of the sixth. On third base, Frank scored the eventual game-winner on an RBI single from Kramer, giving Wabasso the necessary lead after BSM scored five runs in the top of the seventh.
Today, the Rabbits (4-1 overall) host Sleepy Eye in Tomahawk Conference competition.
