Led by a round of 75 by Hudson VanDrunen, the Russell-Tyler-Ruthton boys golf team won the four-team RTR Invitational by a wide margin on Monday at Tyler Golf Club.
The Knights finished with a team score of 327, while Lincoln HI came in a distant second with a round of 373. Canby finished in third place with a 387, and Minneota came in fourth with a 388.
RTR's Ryan O'Toole joined VanDrunen as the only other golfer to shoot in the 70s. He fired a 79. Nathan VanDrunen added a round of 82, while Andrew Bakker and Hunter Burns each shot 91 for the Knights.
Jeff Gladis led Lincoln HI with a round of 80, Nick Simonton paced Canby with an 88 and Alec Engler had the low score for Minneota with a round of 92.
In the girls' competition, RTR's Hannah Kruger shot a nine-hole score of 45 to earn medalist honors, finishing six strokes ahead of her nearest competitor. The Knights, however, only had three golfers and were not able to post a team score.
Lincoln HI took first for the girls with a score of 213. Malorie Midtaune led the way for the Rebels with a round of 51. Kyra Gores shot a 53 for Lincoln HI, Taylor Ness shot a 54 and Chelsey Benz had a 55.
Minneota edged Canby by one stroke to take second place with a team score of 218. Alyssa Engler and Megan Evers each shot 54 for the Vikings, and Katelyn Kack and Allison Bot each fired a round of 55.
Canby was led by Kristy Schmidt's round of 52. The Lancers' Taylor Gorder shot a 54, Natalie Morris had a 55 and Scarlet Thorston posted a 58.
