He was born Jan. 6, 1969, in Fargo, N.D., to Michael and Carol (Lowry) Cool.

Kris had the most generous heart. If there was anything anyone wanted or needed, he made sure they got it, even if it meant that he went without. He loved nature and could identify nearly every native plant, tree or bird in Minnesota. Other than spending time with his family, his happiest times were working in his garden. Kris never met an animal he didn't love. His kindness and caring for animals showed in their love they had for him.

Since moving back to Minnesota, Kris made family his first priority. He was a loving father to Megan Kathleen, his pride and joy. He loved his time in Minneapolis with his sister Katharine. They spent many joyful months together. He was extremely close and loving to his Papa Tom Lowry and Nana Joe Lowry. He was a wonderful son to Michael and Carol Cool. Mike and Kris spent many hours hunting with the dogs, fishing, gardening and working together. He was the most caring, generous and attentive son to Carol.

Kris was proud of his military service and grateful to the Army for bringing his best friend Perry Steed into his life. He had a beautiful mind. He spoke several languages and continued his quest for knowledge throughout his life. Kris was a dedicated, loyal and hard worker. The world is a smaller, sadder place without his presence. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his daughter, Megan; parents, Mike and Carol; grandmother, Elaine "Joe" Lowry; sisters, Kate Cool and Kaylin Torres; and aunts, uncles, other relatives and many friends.

Kris was preceded in death by his grandpa and grandma Don and Eleanor Cool, grandpa Tom Lowry and one uncle Jim Cool.
