Faith in action for May 4

Everything is possible with God!

It's hard to believe that summer vacation will soon be here. Teachers and school staff are telling me the kids are already in high-energy summer mode. Maybe it is that way at your house too. We know that during the too-short summer in southwestern Minnesota our lives shift gears. You and your family may be more likely to be out of town during weekends. But you don't have to take a summer vacation from church and your children's growing in faith. Sunday, June 5 through Thursday, June 7, Christ United Presbyterian Church at 400 W. Lyon in Marshall will host "Sky! Everything is possible with God."

Do you have kids in your life who are preschool to sixth grade? Perhaps your kids are grown, but now you have grandchildren or neighbors whose faith you care about. This summer you can help launch or strengthen the faith of the children in your life through this early summer, five evening cooperative Vacation Bible School. Christ United Presbyterian, Wesley United Methodist and Albright United Methodist will again join forces to create a fun and meaningful VBS experience open to everyone.

When I was a kid, VBS was a morning or even all-day program. Recently we found that early evening VBS just works better in the lives of most of our busy families. This year the program runs Sunday to Thursday, 5-7:30 p.m. At that time of day, kids tend to be more eager to participate, families are less rushed and stressed and our fabulous volunteers are more able to play their part. Sky High Five!

Each evening, crews will enjoy the Imagination Station, Wild Blue Bible Adventures, All-Star Games and Sky High Movies and Missions, and wrap up the evening with Fly Away Finale until 7:30. Participants from pre-school age to sixth grade will share a meal at 5 p.m. (Parents, and other family members are welcome too - just let us know how many to cook for) The mission focus for the week will be helping prevent the spread of mosquito carried malaria, through the ministry of Imagine No Malaria. Though music, fun activities and the example and witness of caring helpers, children will learn that "No matter who you are trust God!" "No matter how you feeltrust God!" "No matter what people dotrust God!" "No matter what happens trust God!" and "No matter where you are trust God!" Most importantly, everything is possible with God!

Sky! Vacation Bible School Registration forms are available at Christ United Presbyterian Church in the entryway, Wesley United Methodist and Albright United Methodist. The registration deadline is May 13 (Mother's Day - don't forget that date either) Cost is $15 per child.
