By Jenny Kirk , Marshall Independent

Organizers for the 6th annual Prairie Women's Expo are inviting all women in the area to come be a "Queen for the Day" Saturday at the Veterans Memorial Center in downtown Tracy.

"We'll have a variety of exhibitors tending specifically to all of women's needs," said Missie Erbes, Tracy Chamber of Commerce director. "We'll have your traditional Pampered Chef coupled with Mary Kay and Tastefully Simple. We also have a lot of new products out there, like a lot of the new all-natural shakes."

More than 50 exhibitors will be at the 2012 Expo, offering a wide variety of items and opportunities. Erbes estimates that there are 20 new vendors attending the event.

"There are exhibitors from all spectrums, new ones but old favorites too," she said. "Of course, there'll be jewelry and purses, which are very popular. We also have a lot of craft items."

One of the highlights of the day is expected to be the "Diva Style!" photo booth available through Devereaux Photography.

"Women can get their girlfriends together and have a fun photo taken absolutely free," Erbes said. "They can come in and accessorize with our collection of blingy jewelry, furs, big hats, boas and crowns. We have a wide variety of different items for all ages. They'll be able to take a memento home with them."

The first 100 women will receive a goodie bag when the doors open at 9 a.m. New this year is a second wave of goodie bags, with 100 additional bags handed out at noon.

"We decided to split the time up because the goodie bags are so popular," Erbes said. "We wanted to give other ladies who might be working in the morning the opportunity to get a goodie bag too. It should bring in a whole new group of people."

A special food court will also be available at the event, which is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The 6th annual Expo is sponsored by Sanford Tracy, Xcel Energy, Knology, Greenwood Nursery, KLGR Radio, Marshall Radio stations, Tracy Publishing Company, Western Printing and Tracy Ace Home Center.
