Why should gays be singled out?

May 31, 2012

To the editor:

I would like to respond to Paul Jensen's letter to the editor. First if I agreed with all he said, I still do not understand why gays should be singled out and not allowed the right to marry.

The Declaration of Independence entitles us to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Why are we refusing the right to marry to gays but allow this right to heterosexual rapists or child molesters etc.

Jesus declared all food clean, but he also taught about a woman who was caught in the act with a man other than her husband. When they brought the woman to Christ for his judgement, Christ said let the one without sin cast the first stone. Well our stones will be our ballot, and I have no doubts that Mr. Jensen would have no problem casting the first ballot.

Finally, Christ also taught why see the mote in your brother's eye but consider not the beam in thy own eye...thou hypocrite cast out first the beam in thy eye. Why do you appeal to the gay community - I dare say there may be some gays closer to God than thou.

To your lesbian friend and cousin I offer this - if you find someone to love and cherish may your life be blessed.
