Marshall Blue 5, Olivia 3
The Marshall VFW Blue baseball team opened its season with a win on Monday, defeating Olivia 5-3 in Marshall.
After starting pitcher Drew Hmielewski was knocked out of the game in the first inning after taking a line drive to the arm, Marshall Blue's Connor Messman came in for the rest of the game, striking out four in the victory.
At the plate, Riley Sharbano was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, and Jalen Wittrock and Noah Winkelman each tallied two hits.
Marshall Blue stays at home on Wednesday, hosting Sioux Falls (S.D.) East for a doubleheader at Alumni Field at Southwest Minnesota State.

Marshall Orange 22, Tracy 6
The Marshall VFW Orange baseball team scored 22 runs on nine hits in a 22-6 win over Tracy Monday in Tracy.
Four Orange players each had a multi-hit game. Derek Rasmussen and Matt Thompson each had two hits, scored three runs and had two RBIs. Jack Bock went 2-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIS, while PJ Bot was 2-for-3, scored two runs and knocked in a runner.
Bock also earned the win on the mound. He came in for Thompson in the second inning with Orange down 6-0 and shut down Tracy over the final 3 2/3 innings, giving up just one hit and no runs.
Marshall Orange (2-0 overall) will begin a doubleheader with Sioux Falls South at 5 p.m. today at Alumni Field.
