Firefighters sprayed fire-retardant foam on a car involved in a crash with a semi Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 23 and Lyon County Road 9 near Cottonwood. The driver of the car, a 2008 Cadillac, was killed, and the driver of the semi, Scott Glidewell of Ruthton, was treated and released from the Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center for injuries, the Minnesota State Patrol said. Both vehicles were destroyed by fire, Patrol said. Cottonwood Fire and Ambulance, North Memorial Ambulance, the Lyon County Sheriff's Department and the State Patrol responded at the scene.
