Yellow Medicine County awards bridge contract

June 13, 2012
Marshall Independent

The Yellow Medicine County Board of Commissioners awarded a $445,000 contract to replace a bridge on County Road 7 at their regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday. The winning bid was submitted by R and G Construction Company from Marshall.

The board also approved a motion to approve a grant application from the federal government for $400,000 in federal funds for the Upper Minnesota Valley Regional Development Commission. The fund provides gap financing for small business start-ups and expansion in a five-county area and requires a $100,000 local match. Yellow Medicine County's share of that was $23,000.

At the request of Yellow Medicine County Sheriff Bill Flatten, the board approved the purchase of two new squad cars. The two Ford SUVs will be bought from the state of Minnesota at $26,000 apiece.

In other business the board set the assessed value of a tax forfeit parcel in Wood Lake at $2,000, to be put up for auction at a later date.
