Luverne 10, Tracy 4

The Tracy Express fell to the Gopher League foe Luverne Redbirds on Wednesday night in Luverne. James Fischer's fourth inning grand slam off of Express pitcher Tylan Gylling highlighted a five run fourth for the Redbirds, who went on to win 10-4. Fischer would finish the game 3-for-4 for Luverne.

Tracy scored three of its four runs off of an Andrew Mathiowetz double in the third inning. The double was Mathiowetz's only hit on the evening. Andrew Suby and Jason Minett also had doubles for the Express. Jeremy Hoflock had the only multi-hit game for Tracy, going 2-for-4.

Tylan Gylling started and picked up the loss for Tracy. He was relieved by Phil Madsen in the fifth inning. Greg Barnes finished the game on the hill for Tracy, coming in for Madsen in the seventh inning.

Zach Clark went 3-for-5 for the Redbirds with a triple, and Joey Slieter went 3-for-4 from the plate. Taylor VanSanten was credited with the win for the Redbirds.

The Express (2-9 Gopher League, 6-11 overall) return to action Friday when they visit the Marshall A's at Legion Field. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Wilmont 11, Minneota 8

The Minneota Mudhens were unable to steal a game from Gopher League leaders Wilmont Wednesday night in Minneota.

Leading 8-5 entering the seventh inning, the Mudhens (9-6 overall) gave up six runs over the last three innings. After seeing four Cardinals cross the plate in the top of the night, the Mudhens were unable to respond in their half of the inning and lost 11-8.

Tony Shaikoski started the game for the Mudhens, allowing seven runs off of nine Wilmont hits. Shaikoski also had three strikeouts. Danny Hennen relieved Shaikoski in the seventh inning. Hennen was credited with the loss after giving up four runs in the ninth.

Jason Myhre led the Mudhens at the plate, going 4-for-5 with a double and five RBIs. Beau Buysse added three hits for the Mudhens and Justin Greenwood went 2-for-5 with a double. Tyson Sonnenburg had two RBIs on his lone hit for the Mudhens.

Jay Scheidt went 2-for-5 for Wilmont including a double and a two-run home run. Steve Kremer and Justin Saufley each went 3-for-5 against the Mudhens' pitchers.

Minneota hosts Adrian in their next game Sunday at 5 p.m.

Brookings 6, Milroy Irish 3

Pitching woes in the seventh inning led to a Milroy Irish loss, 6-3, in Brookings Wednesday night.

Isaac Dolan started on the bump for the Irish, going six innings with seven strikeouts. His efforts would result in a no decision. Relievers Tyler Alcorn and Dan Frank struggled to find the strike zone and were each able to get only one out in the seventh inning, resulting in four Brookings runs. Cody Mather recorded the last four outs for the Irish. The four-run seventh inning resulted in a 3-2 Irish lead becoming a 6-3 deficit, where the score would stay.

Milroy had eight hits in the game, four of which came off the bat of Dominic Dolan. Dominic ended the game 4-for-5 with two doubles and a run scored. Tyler Peterson added two more hits for the Irish, going 2-for-5, and Isaac Dolan had a triple.

The Irish face Luverne in Gopher League action at 2 p.m. Sunday at Irish Yard.
