Three Andrew Kinney home runs powered the Marshall A's to a 23-1 victory over the Tracy Express Tuesday night in Tracy.
Kinney's first home run came in the top of the first and helped jump-start the A's offense. Marshall scored 10 runs in the inning. Marshall added another run in the third inning via Kinney's second home run. His final home run of the game came in the fifth inning and pushed the A's lead to 13-0. Kinney finished the night 5-for-5 with three homers, a double and seven RBIs.
Marshall scored 10 more runs in the seventh and final inning. Chace Pollock led the way with a grand slam. Pollock had an excellent night at the plate, finishing 3-for-5 with two doubles, a grand slam and five RBIs.
Andrew Larsen also homered for the A's, who tallied 19 hits in seven innings. Taylor Rignell went 3-for-6 with a double and four runs scored. Even the A's pitcher, Brandon Wilhelmi, got into the act with a double.
Though his best stuff wasn't needed, Wilhelmi had it on Tuesday. Wilhelmi allowed just one run on six hits and had seven strikeouts over his seven innings of work.
The win moves the A's to 15-5 on the season, while the loss drops the Express to 6-14. Marshall will be at Bird Island tonight for a Corn Belt League game. Tracy will look to end its current five-game losing streak on Thursday when it heads to Lamberton to face the Long Sox.
