Bofferding scores twice in All-Star football game

Dawson-Boyd’s Weber with 65 rushing yards, Stelter with 4 catches

Multi-touchdown games were the norm for Beau Bofferding during his high school football career. Competing against the state's best players during Saturday's Minnesota High School Football All-Star Game at Husky Stadium St. Cloud, things were no different for Marshall's speedy running back.

Bofferding scored two 1-yard touchdowns, one in the first quarter and one in the third, to help lift the South All-Stars to a 33-21 victory over the North. Bofferding, who will play football and run track at Minnesota-Duluth, finished with 21 yards on five carries, his longest going for 19 yards.

Redwood Valley's Beau Stough, someone Bofferding grew familiar playing against in the Southwest Conference, also scored on a 1-yard touchdown run for the South All-Stars.

Dawson-Boyd teammates Esten Weber and Zach Stelter also took part in the game and made their presence felt for the North All-Stars.

Weber, who will play at St. Thomas next year, carried the ball 10 times for 65 yards. Four of his runs went for 10 yards or more. He also showed his versatility with three catches for 24 yards.

Stelter will play safety at St. Olaf next season, but got in a few more reps at tight end for the North All-Stars. He had four catches for 27 yards, including a 10-yard grab.

The North All-Stars had a 15-12 lead at halftime before the South pulled away with 21 points in the third quarter. Although they lost by 12, the North All-Stars out-gained the South by nearly 100 yards (370-272).
