Redwood Street houses to be torn down

July 4, 2012
Marshall Independent

MARSHALL - Three houses on East Redwood Street dating back to the 1880s are to be torn down.

The Rev. Wesley Johnson of the Wesley United Methodist Church confirmed the church acquired the houses from the Schwan Food Co. on June 27.

Johnson said the houses had deteriorated to the point they could not be salvaged and the church will decide what to do with the lots at a future date.

"At this point it hasn't been fully decided," Johnson said. "We'll use a piece of it for parking and look into possible expansion. We're keeping our options open."

Johnson said the church was working with Schwan's and the Lyon County Historical Society to salvage any items of historical value.
